Hypothetically speaking if child who graduated kindergarten a year late and got held back in elementary school would they be allowed to go to school (High-School) after they turn 19. A minor argument was started in my house and i think they WILL allow them to attend , however my opponent thinks the opposite .
Thanks , Aaron

Here is a wild idea. Call the school and see if they can continue.

I think it depends on what state and city or county you live in. Or maybe even the school. I say this because when I was in high school, there was the same type of situation with one guy. He was about to turn 20 and they said after his birthday fell he wasn't allowed to take regular day classes with everyone else. He had to finish getting his diploma by attending night and weekend classes. However, I don't believe it's right or fair. That person should be allowed to complete school during regular hours with everyone else.
By the way. This happened in Philly.

Absolutely! I am involved in education and have dealt with students that were 19 going on 20. I think the cut off is 21, unless they are a student with special needs.

Almost every school district (except private schools) has a limit on age and its usually 21 so you'll be able to attend next year. Plus if you werent allowed to attend school you would have been notified by school officials.

of course they can - they started at a school, they finish at the school. A distirct is not going to deny someone an education due to age.
IN RE YOUR ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
OJ Mayo, the USC basketball star, ended his high school career at the age of 19 due to being held back a year...so tell your arguer to go stick it in his shorts LOL

Yes, I had a 20 year old in my sophomore algebra 2 class. She was 22 when she graduated.

I knew someone who was 21 and a senior in high school. He had failed several years and had to repeat. I think a lot of people in his position would have dropped out at 18 and gotten a GED, but I thought it was admirable that he was so determined to finish high school.

Being that my mother is a teacher, I do know the answer to this one. You must graduate High School by age twenty-one, so provided that you can still do that, yes, you can be nineteen in High School.

Yes
We call them "super seniors" around here.
I've never heard of why it wouln't be allowed, but I spose you could probably attend high school until you're 21? After that you would be required to get your GED another way.

Man...what I wouldn't give to be 19 and able to attend HS to pick up all the younger girls...he should personally call the HS principal and thank him for that...
