I know it's stereotypical of gay men to work at the MAC store at Saks Fifth Avenue or at hair salons, but where so lesbian women work? I'd like to be exposed to an environment of lesbians, where should I go?

If you're looking for stereotypes, police officers, vet's office, any woman working in a stereotypically male profession - construction, manufacturing, plumbing, electrician, chef. I'm a finance analyst, my wife is an entrepreneur, my friends are electrical engineers, software engineers, nurses, a project manager, a banker, a technical writer, security guard, a truck driver, a nursing home director, stay at home mom. The truth is we're a true cross section of greater community.

I once got a job where only gay men work and it didn't work out...it lacked diversity and got on my nerves after awhile. It was nothing but sexual harassment and trust me when you work with all gay men (or women in your case) it tends to get really old really fast! You'll never want to be around another gay person outside of work again!

On the other hand I have worked in larger companies with high concentrations of gay people but with other types of people as well (straight, asian, black, white, young, old, etc) it was really great! I loved it! You can hang out with the gay people and others as well. As a gay person you would think working with all gay people would be fun but the truth is life is boring when it lacks diversity!

when i first saw this question all i could do was giggle. because pretty much all the lesbians in my town work at one place - the pet store. everyone knows . thast just where they work.

most of my gay friends work at like outdoorsy stores, but i guess thats just what we're into. but i mean, friends usually tend to work together right? so lesbians usualy hang in big groups, at least i do, with my gay friends, so yea! find one, you find em all .!! ;)

I guess the answer to your question is another question: Where do straight women work? We lgbt folk where the rest of the people work - everywhere, in every profession. Check your stereotypes in the closet, we left you room :)

we work everywhere with everyone...a variety of jobs just like straight women do. neither my partner nor I have a stereotypical "lesbian" job. I'm a corporate travel agent....my partner is a secretary.
