alt.is the name of a key on your keybord
+ is meant as in AND
f4 is the name of a key on your keybord
so, alt.+f4 means:
depress with your finger alt then while holding it down
depress with your finger f4

That means you should hold down the ALT key (just to the left of the space bar) while pressing the F4 key (just above the number 5). Typically with Windows based operating systems, this closes the currently selected window.

It closes the program you're currently in. If you were to hold down ALT (the ALT button on your keyboard, next to the spacebar) and press F4 (the button above the 5) right now, you would close this window.

Hit alt+F4 on your keyboard. No actully dont, lol. It closes the open window. Open "My computer" and hit Alt+F4

basically, that means that you have to press the "alt" button at the same time you press the "f4" button. I'm not sure what your trying to do, so I can't answer it more specifically.
