I do that a lot. I always say did you just hear that and they are like you must be hearing things. BUT I know I for sure heard it. Sometimes I think I hear someone saying my name at night before I go to bed and then I start to really freak out. Lol. I'm weird I guess.

Well, I have tinnitus, had since I was born I think.
Try some research on that if you're hearing a constant tinny 'beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' sound, or a throbbing, almost electronic bee-bee-bee.
[that's what I hear. Not sure what you hear.]

Mostly the aforementioned sound is described as 'ringing' sound, which is, to me, rather stupid and too general/broad a term.

Probably why I didn't realize something was wrong with my ears. LOL

Anyway, if you're hearing a sound everyone/anyone else can't hear, try lowering the volume on TVs, using earplugs while operating loud equipment.
And turn down the volume on your MP3 player!

Better yet, ditch the earbuds and get regular earphones.
bulkier, yes, and less fashionable, but they are better at letting some excess noise escape rather then letting the harmful sound waves damage your ear drums.

I hear things all the time. Sometimes I hear voices that nobody else can hear. And then there is the sound that all kids and teens can hear but not adults. Its a ring tone on my sisters friend cell called Mosquito. Its a loud screech/beep sounding noise.

Sometimes. Like I'll hear a high pitched sound and ask my bf if he hears that, but he says no. I KNOW its not a ringing in my ears because usually I find the source of the sound.
