When do the Bios parameters for the new processor have to be entered? Do they have to be input with the old processor, saving them, turning off the the system and then switching in the new processor? My problem is that the old Cpu is defective (2 broken pins). At present with the new Cpu plugged in, there is no Post and I can't enter Bios setup mode.

if your old CPU is one year older that your newly bought CPU, its no longer compatibe. In upgrading new processor, see to it for compatibility. even if it will fit to the board, it will not work if it is not compatible. check the manual of your board to be able to buy right compatible processor.

When new processor is in place, power ON then go to BIOS immediately. Load fail safe defaults, save and exit. You should be in business with the new processor. You could try loading optimized defaults later or tweak BIOS to your heart's content.

if you have the correct processor ( especially the right pin, because you can't put an intel pentium 4 prosesor to a pentium 3 motherboard ) and your pc still haven't recognize it, try to update your bios
