i think they definately have a shot. The Brewers have a great chance to slow down quite a bit after the all star game, and the cardinals will hopefully start getting back some of their allstar players. I have a good fealing about Edmonds, I think he's going to come back from his injury very strong. The team depends on Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds, and since they arent even pulling their own weight at the moment, the team is having some problems. So what we need to see is our injured players coming back strong, and our veterans need to step it up.

People call the NL Central a weak division but the division has won the NL three years in a row.
Being in 3rd place and 9 1/2 games back sounds bleak but stranger things happen in the NL. The Giants came back from 13 to pass the Dodgers in 1951. In 1964, the Cardinals came back from 6 1/2 in the last 12 games to win the pennant. The 1969 Mets jumped 13 games over the Cubs and Pirates. In 1973,Berra's Mets found themselves in last place with a 61-71 record at the end of August but they recovered behind relief pitcher Tug McGraw and his "Ya gotta believe!" rallying cry (the team has since trademarked the phrase), winning 21 of their last 29 games.

But, I think Jason Marquis gets his ring this year.

I don't see the Cards winning the NL central. Milwaukee is playing good ball and are relatively healthy. St. Louis has all kinds of injuries this year: Carpenter, Mulder, Edmonds. They lost Matt Morris to San Fran & Jeff Suppan to Milwaukee and Anthony Reyes can't buy a win. Plus they're sitting behind the hottest team in the NL central my Cubbies.

are you kidding me?? they will be lucky to finish 3rd. it doesnt matter how many HR hitters, or all-stars you have playing in the field, you NEED a solid, consistant pitching rotation along with a decent bullpen to keep your team in the game, the Cardinals have niether. these are the reasons that the Milwaukee Brewers are sitting on top of the NL Central right now, because they have had solid pitching, and when you have solid pitching, you only need a decent batting lineup, thats how the tigers did so good last year. so if the cardinals wish they were winning the division, they shouldnt have pissed away all of their pitching.

With that pitching staff they don't stand a chance. They have a cast off from the Royals in the rotation right now...I think thats all the evidence you need to see that this is a team that is going nowhere....

Not this year, I don't think they can. They do not seem as good as they have the past few years. Their starting rotation is not as good either. By the looks of how things are going now it looks like its going to be the Brewers. But it is still early, anything can happen.

they might win the wild card but i think that will be philly or atlanta, but the brewers definetly have a deeper team than the cardinals

The central is wide open, but if they don't start turning things around soon it is over for them

No I don't think they have enough pitching. Carpenter is pretty much shutdown and there is no way there mix match pitching staff can get it done. I really think the Cubs will win it.
