The rules aren't hard. We learn from experience and by the examples others set.

I suggest that if you have any inkling that you may be reacting in the wrong manner around a child, do not proceed until you consult with someone who can give you an acceptable strategy.

In general, the main thought that you need to have is that you will always treat the child the way that you believe that you should have been treated when you were the same age.

You can always look back at your own life and ruminate about the good and bad techniques that your family used when you were a child.

Choose what you perceive was proper and effective and apply those, if you can.
