Monkeys are ridiculous pets to have. For one thing, chances are, it or it's mother was captured in the wild. This is a disgusting thing to do to an animal so you can have bragging rights with your friends.
Monkeys are extremely destructive. I knew a person that had one and had to get rid of it because it destroyed their house. Not like a dog. These guys have hands and intelligence, and you will regret it.
The older a monkey gets, not matter was species it is, the meaner it gets. All apes and monkeys used in TV and movies are child-aged animals. Once they start getting to the age of puberty, they become extremely aggressive and territorial. These animals are usually retired to a sanctuary or put to sleep because even trainers cannot control them.
Put your fantasy away and get a traditional pet, preferably from a local shelter like a dog or a cat. If you want to learn about monkeys and what they are really like, volunteer at a zoo or sanctuary instead.

Have you done a LOT of research on what it will take to have a Capuchin? Not just the money part. It will need regular vet care, including vaccines. They can get the same diseases we can. They bite and throw poop every where and at you! They really do not make good pets at all. They need a very large cage and a good, fresh diet also. You might want to wait and rethink this idea, no matter how cute they are!

Have you checked the laws for the area that you live in? Many areas have outlawed the private ownership of nonhuman primates.
Also know that capuchins can live for over 40 years. and they get really aggressive and they will take ownership of and destroy all of your stuff. they dont potty train and many wont wear diapers.
and remember when dealing with monkeys it is not a matter of IF you will get bitten it is a matter of WHEN you will get bitten.
If you want to interact with monkeys then call around to zoos and sanctuaries and ask about volunteer programs. the zoo I work for has a volunteer program for 14-18 year olds and they work with the keepers doing animal work. thats how I got my start as a zoo keeper.

Um, DONT! Monkeys are not meant to be kept as pets! Its illegal in most areas in the US and canada to own one unless its for therapudic use! The cost for a capuchin are about 34,000 for a cheap one. Keep in mind how cruel it is to own a monkey as a pet. Anyways, to adopt you must be at least 21, a legal adult.

Don't get one, it only makes the exotic animal black market grow larger. Some animals just aren't meant to be pets, especially ones that were most likely captured from their natural habitat.
