There are probably a lot more carrying guns than you think. I think that is what deters criminals because they do not know for sure who has a gun and who doesn't.
I also agree that if one is going to carry a gun or even have a gun in the home that they should have proper training in handling and taking care of a firearm.
I have noticed that times when I had an NRA sticker on my car that I am treated more respectfully by other drivers. It may sound like I am trying to be funny but it is really true. It reminds me of a lady who had a bumper sticker that said "A lady with a gun has more fun". I agree with that and I have fought for 2nd amendment rights since the late 1980's when I spoke to an NRA representative at a local country fair.
Second Amendment issues and how candidates are rated by Gun Owners of America Inc and the NRA impact greatly upon how I vote.

I would carry, but in Wisconsin it is illegal unless you are a off duty cop. It has been proven in Florida that crime rates went down drastically when concealed carry became legal. Over 8 years there were only like 5 crimes committed with firearms by people with permits. A number so low they stopped keeping track. So in wisconsin the only people who carry besides cops are crooks. There is a high murder rate in the inner city of Milwaukee, but if you move to a civilized neighborhood there is virtually no murder rate. Its better to have a gun and not need it than to not have one and need it.

it;s a matter of personal preference and the way people feel about guns in general. Guns are dangerous. Especially when you have an irresponsible adult who does not speak to his or her children about the dangers of a loaded gun. Then you have 5 year old kids killing each other because they aren't aware of the consequences of pointing and shooting

Because the media is so strongly pro-gun control, and says that the more guns you have on the streets, the more dangerous society is. They refuse to look at the evidence that shows that more guns reduces crime, and they also don't want people to know that dictators like to take away people's guns so they can't defend themselves (Hitler, Pol Pot, Saddam, etc.)

Several reasons, some of the actual intelligent ones are listed above. But another consideration is the complete unpredictability of the court systems.

A guy could have your wallet and watch in one hand and squeezing the trigger of the gun he has pointed at you head in the other when you shoot him and you could still be arrested or sued.

You shoot someone in your house who has a mask on and a gun in his hand you'll get sued by the family.

You have a better chance the bad guy will just take your wallet.

Well if this were true, then places like Newark, NJ and Philadelphia PA would be almost free of crime. There are a lot of people carrying guns in both cities. And horrible gun crime stats in both cities.

It isn't really necessary. All that matters is that a potential criminal not know who is. Is it the person he is targeting or some passer-by who may intervene? That is what deters crime.

i think that if everyone will carry guns with them everywhere will cause more crime..
For instance, someone bumps in to someone then a few words were said then someone pulls out a gun and then we might have another crime..

More citizens carrying guns...means more guns at home...firearm exposure to children. If you don't know how to handle a weapon really well the criminal, most likely, will take the gun away from you. Not a good plan !!

Because more armed citizens also means more innocent people die too. I'm glad people have the right to bear arms but only to protect us from government tyranny (should it ever arise). Let's let the cops do their job and support them.

I don't know what you mean by "It has been proven" without showing a link to a study...but to my knowledge, crime goes down only when the economy goes up.
