What do you remember about 40 years ago?

I remember $.25 a gallon for gas, I remember $2.85 an hour, I remember the Viet Nam war, I remember being 9 yrs old and taking the bus downtown and going to movies, I remember all this fear did not exist. YOU?

I remember standing on the tarmac in Texas and we wondered over the droning of the huge transport planes while we were sweating under our heavy back packs, just where the heck a place named Viet Nam was and how long it would be before we came home, we were told about six months.

I remember two years later, wondering if I'd live to set foot again in the beloved United States and see my young wife and son that I'd never seen.

I remember coming home and migrating to the woods of Northern Minnesota, far from any neighbors and never coming out. Hating society in general.

I was in high school, I remember short skirts, short hair (like Twiggy, the model). I remember the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. It was a kinder, gentler time, in between the cold war and the Vietnam war-that was scary but not like the terrorism we see today.

YEP. I remember cigarettes were .25 a pack/35 in machine. Pabst blue Ribbon beer was $1.75 for a six pack/even though I was too young to buy legally,I had places that would sell to me. Drive In was $1.00 per person,I went on dates 6 times a week.I remember the cars, being from DETROIT, what cars, SS396/HEMI/ CUDAS/ROADRUNNERS/BOSS 302s/ But most of all I remember NOREEN, my girl/ my GOD I was crazy in love with her!!!! PS, I married her,but it only lasted 3 years,but it was worth it.I would do it all over again. ,I am sorry that I divorced her.
