The painfully obvious answer to this question is that there is, in any and all forms of 'reality', absolutely nothing that lasts 'forever'. In other words, there is and has never been, and perhaps may never be anything ('anything' being defined as any/all object or circumstance/occurrence in this instance) that exists 'ad infinitum'. With our 'current understanding' of the universe, it can neither be proved nor disproved that the universe itself may not 'last forever'...it is not permanent, so to speak.
So what does that all mean? Well, it means that because the universe in which all things must exist may not be, in itself, 'ever lasting'....therefore there can be nothing contained within said universe that can be described as 'infinite', or 'lasting forever'.
So what does all that gobblety-gunk above boil down to?
There is simply nothing that lasts forever, period. All things that exist, must eventually 'end'. For this is the truest example of the 'empty set'...or the 'set containing no elements'.
