I'm patching a hole in my bycicle innertube using Something called "pliobond" (I'm pretty sure that is the same as rubber cement) and rubber from a diffrent innertube. Is that okay? or is it the wrong glue and the rubber is too thick?

Any advice on how to do it?

I'm not asking what to buy. I'm asking if it is possible to do with what I already have.

It's possible to make it work with what you got,,,I know I have.
If you do it right,it will work.
DIY can save a big buck but requires more effort on your part.
Here's what I do:
1- release as much air as you can from your tube.
2- scuff the hole area with a coarse sandpaper 3/4" in radius from the hole.
3- clean area out with alcohol or water and let dry.
4- repeat steps 1-3 on your scrap patch tube(the one you will be cutting up)
5- cut a 1"- 1 1/2" square or round piece from scrap piece where scuffs are.
6- get a piece of Saran wrap plastic ready, 2"x2" will do
7- find hard flat surface and flat heavy to set on top of your project if you don't have clamps.(note:glue scuff sides together).
8- now you can glue your tube hole area with medium-thick film of glue
9- also apply thin film of clue on patch piece
10- press patch to hole on tube(making sure it's centered)
11- with the 2"x2" plastic piece place overall patched area.
12- now your ready to compress the bond between a hard flat surface and a heavy object that will maintain pressure of 20lbs. at least for 30min.

After 30 min. it should be ready for reinstall just pump some air into the tube just until it's hold a circular shape. (it's OK to leave the plastic piece on if it doesn't want to peal off.)
You should probably have it figured out by now.
If this didn't work out chances are your hole is too big.
Good luck.

The rubber is too thick. The repair kits are really cheap. Why not just toss what you have already and start with a kit of known good items? Otherwise you are going to waste a lot of time getting bad results.

No it wont work.

The rubber needs to be clean. You would be using a old inner tube and it wont stick well.

So,that is why everyone including me are telling you to buy a patch kit. They are very inexpensive.

Here's the thing, you probably are still going to try it your way, so good luck.

You can get a patch kit at your auto parts store for about a dollar.

well its more than just a dollar. i would almost just seem what the price difference is in buying a new tube. it might just be smarter to get a new one that will last you longer than a patch
