My advice is that, if possible, a few days before school starts, take her to the school and just explore. If she has a timetable with her classrooms listed, go and find them so she has an idea of where to go when the big day comes.
Does her school have an orientation day for freshmen? My school is from Grades 10-12, and the Grade 10s start a day earlier than everyone else to be able to get to know the school without the pressures of the older kids.
Check the office and see if they have maps of the school. If they do, your daughter could keep one handy for reference.
Don't worry about getting lost or being a bit late to a class. Teachers are generally more lenient at the beginning of the year, so don't stress about that.
Just take a big breath and relax. Be yourself and everything should be fine! Don't let the older kids get under your skin! Find a good group of friends and high school will be a whole lot easier. It may take a few days to get used to the change, but you'll get used to it in no time.

No advice
its all about experience. The first day is always a little bit akward, but she will bond with the other children and will eventually get used to the school. High School can be a great place to go to. Type of people? well this question is really broad, there are people with many personalities. As for your daughter, i hope u have fun!!

Hi!!! i remember being a freshman and the first thing they give you is a map of the school. and the first few days if she is late to class they wont tell you anything because they know you are new. she can ask any adult she sees they should know. tell her not to ask the students cause some older kids mess with the young ones and try to get them lost.
when i started high school i was really scared and excited. tell her to just be herself around ppl and dont let the older students make her nervous. they might try to scare her and her friends by saying somehting like your sitting at our table or something. im just about to start my senior year on monday and part of being a senior is picking on the newbies. but they dont mean anything by it. we are just excited about being seniors. tell her to also get to know her teachers. make a good first impression it will help througtout the year. just tell her GOOD LUCK! and enjoy it because the years go by very fast.

Every other kid there is going through the same thing. <--- That's the best advice you can give her in that one little sentence. If she gets lost, she'll ask for help. That's what high school is about. My advice would be not to worry, every kid is just like you. Sometimes you'll feel lost and scared, but just ask for help, and someone will gladly help you out. Be open to everyone, and every type of person and get involved in activities and it'll all pass so quickly.

Why not take/let her go to the school a few days in advance and get a feel for the layout?? Talk to the secretary or the vice principal, and get a date to do the sightseeing course. Get there and give her a fighting chance.

security guards know the way around. allow her to experience that first day on her own. she'll feel a little lost and may be late to classes but she'll have a lot of funny moments to share with you at the end of the day.
