I am sure he used steriods but I think that if he did not he still could have done it. If he did not get involved with steriods and was a nicer person then everyone would want to see him break the record.

Dont be bashing on Barry Bonds. He was a Hall of Famer before he started taking steriods, and I would vote for him if I was on the committee that voted in to the Hall of Fame. All signs point towards him taking steroids, but hey, you still need to be a great hitter to get to 750 homers. Its not like its easy, steroids just help you get the ball out of the park, but come on, give the guy credit where credit is due, hes a great hitter.
I would rather he not break Hank Aarons record, because he used steriods, but it wont be the end of the world if he does. ARod will break it in another few years, so its all good.
Just look at his career stats:
749 Home Runs, lifetime .299 batting average, 514 Stolen Bases (roids dont steal bases), 1965 RBIS, 2896 career hits, 2190 runs scored.

Oh good, we haven't had a bash-Barry thread in at least three hours. Life was getting humdrum.
Haters love to kick Bonds while he's up.
-----
ps. I think the whole "did he or didn't he" question is pointless. In his (criminally leaked) grand jury testimony, Bonds acknowledged using steroidal products, known colloquially as "cream" and "clear". He also gave himself plausible deniability in that testimony. Raise an eyebrow, roll your eyes, cough while saying "bullshit" -- doesn't matter. I have no doubt Bonds used these things. Only an idiot (or a criminal) lies in sworn testimony, and only a complete idiot lies AND INCRIMINATES HIMSELF. (Note: he was given immunity to any possession charges. No one, ever, gets immunity against perjury.)
So, yes, he used steroidal applications.
One, MLB (and speculate whatever reasons you want for this) did not have any rules against this at the time. No rule, no possible rulebreaking, no cheating. QED.
Two, so what? Lots of players were using same or similar. Certainly pitchers were, as at least as many moundsmen have been CAUGHT (tested positive) using steroids as position players. That tells me, on the whole, that the strike zone -- the very heart of baseball's competition -- was maintained evenly. When a majority of players are using, there's no real advantage gained.
Haters like to bash Bonds because he's (pay attention -- metaphor ahead) the kid who got an A+ on the exam even though everyone had a copy of the same cheat sheet. The lamebrains who got Cs and Ds on the exam get a free pass from the discipline committee, because there's no satisfaction in nailing/harassing/denouncing someone who (a) cheated and (b) did a bad job of it.
I simply think it didn't make a significant difference. Bonds really is All That. And no amount of shouting "sterrrroiiidds!!!" will ever explain his supernatural eyesight and total mastery of his own strike zone, which no other player has demonstrated even remotely near his level.
He really is All That.
Steroids or HGH or his special (legal) maple bats or wholesome daily prayer may have TWEAKED his capabilties a bit higher, but he was already walking, breathing greatness on the diamond for a long, long time. Bonds is the greatest hitter I've ever witnessed -- specifically BECAUSE he owns his strike zone. And that's all him. Not 'roids. Bonds.
And the haters cannot begin to accept this truth. Facts get in the way of a good, mouth-foaming rant, and all that.

Barry Bonda as a great hitter and fielder long before the steriod issue came up. I think he's a hall of famer.

Biggest cheater in sports? Jose Canseco used the 'roids to enhance his entire career. Bonds did not do that. Besides there is no proof whatsoever that Bonds abused steroids.

Not this again...
You all shouldn't be mad that Bonds is going to break the record, because in a few more years, A-Rod will break Bonds record.
Now answer me this... say he "did" take steroids. How many homeruns did he hit before that? Hmm? Quite alot if you ask me.

I dont think he cheated, because steriods dont help you hit the ball, you have to have the ability to hit the ball yourself. He just needed more power.
On average every home run of his goes 70-80 over the wall according to espn.com. Without steriods he still would have been able to knock it over the wall.

A better question is, "Who doesn't think Barry Bonds is a cheater?" You will have to read less responses when choosing the best answer.

i do think that bonds is a cheater because if you look at him in the start of his carrer, is was skinny and a fast lead off man.
now he is a fat clean up hitter that couldn't play defence if his life depended on it but he can still hit and juice can't make you hit

no, steroids do not help him become a better hitter or a better homerun hitter, it just increased the longevity of his career. besides, you really cant count it as cheating if everybody else is also cheating.
