"If HIV/AIDS were the leading cause of death of white women between the ages of 25 and 34, there would be an outraged outcry in this country," Clinton said in the biggest applause line of the night, bringing audience members to their feet.
What she should have said was that if black women between the ages of 18-34 would stop participating in risk behavior that leads to HIV/AIDS, there wouldn't be as big a problem with it killing young black people, both male and female.
It's amazing to me that Democrats don't look to actually solve a situation by establishing personal responsibility of the affected peoples, and try to change the critical behaviors that lead to these issues. Instead they look to through government money and controls at the problem, to be the big babysitter, which has been proven to do nothing in resolving the underlying issue.
What do you think?

Doesn't take any money at all to NOT have sex with strangers, to USE a condom if they do, to NOT take drugs, especially those that are needle based, and so forth.
It's sad you don't think these "poor" peoples have the intelligence and will to make the right decisions. God forbid they take any responsibility for their own actions.

Exactly who is it that Clinton thinks she is sucking up to? The truth is that 70% of the black vote in the last election went to Bush, so where does that leave her? If she thinks she is saying anything that hasn't been said before in an attempt to gain votes she is sorely mistaken. The folks she is trying to appeal to aren't going to get off their back stoop to vote for her, no way, no how. They've heard all this balony before and simply don't care. The only way for her to get their votes? String a long line of dollar bills from their houses to the voting booths...and even then she still has no guarantee.
I don't believe for a second that Billary gives a darn about black women with Aids, the only thing she truly cares about is her bank account.
I'd rather impale myself on a sharp stick than vote for her.

Yes, it does sound like she is off the issue when you present it like this, but what was the question? She is pointing out the privilege, right and, ultimately, the racist nature of our nation in making the decisions we make in society and in government. What she is saying is that we should be outraged about the impact of HIV/AIDS in this country, no matter who is involved. And, yes, there are those that are not particularly outraged for just this reason.
But, I do not believe this is the only thing she is saying about HIV/AIDS. I am sure she promotes self-responsibility among all individuals in controlling the spread of the disease. What was the content of the rest of the speech?
You have chosen to focus on only one small part of a serious issue and attempt to discredit one of our countries best thinkers. I am sure you will find a much more complex and comprehensive approach to most any serious issue when it comes to Hillary Clinton.
You are off the mark.

If it was white middle class woman were more involved you can be certain there would be far more action taken. Poor black woman, like poor white, native American, asian or Clingon women are far less of a priority....that's a fact. To point that out isn't exactly new. And what a dumb @ss statement about 'democrats'....just more of the reactionary ad hominum and strawman argumentation...... You guys need a new enemy....how about taking on some real issues?

All of the presidential candidates are sucking up to them. Democrats can't win the Presidency without carrying the black vote!!

It is time for American blacks to get off the democrat plantation. How many times are you going to sit there and let democrats tell you you are not capable of taking care of your own children, controlling your sexual behavior or succeeding in general? It is insulting.
I work with plenty of black, Asian, Hispanic and white people that are highly intelligent, highly skilled and highly competent. I don't believe that American black people cannot succeed without democrat help.

I liked her Black Preacher style of delivery.
If she got elected would she speak with a different accent every day so TV comics can make jokes about her.

Something that bothers me, name one major city run by a black Mayor that doesn't suffer high crime, gang violence, and generally a cesspool. I'm talking about places like Atlanta, DC, Orleans, etc. After thinking about that, what do you think America will be like under Obama?

I think it doesn't matter. The latest polls show that over 52% of the public would not vote for her under any circumstances. The Dems had better find a real candidate or they have no chance in 08

You're right. But admonishing that community for bad behavior, being a white candidate, will not garner their votes.
