He's hiding in corners of the tank and just being lifeless until feeding time. I have a 55 gal tank that he shares with 5 angels, 3 cory cats, and some tetras. I know that it's a male because I had bought 2 of them when I started with a 10 gal and they fought and I had to give one away. Anyways, my angels don't bother him so he's not getting picked on, so what is his problem? My tank has live plants and 2 pieces of driftwood, subtrate and gravel, and a bubble shield in the
back. I do partial water changes and keep it at a steady temp. Maybe he's bored or lonely? What can I do?

I have seen that happen before. Your problem is he is a lone Dwarf Gourami with other boisterous tank mates. You need to get a couple female Dwarf Gouramis to give him some friends.

You also should keep an eye on the Angelfish. They could be bothering him while your not close by. Angelfish will pay attention to you when your there but when your not they go back to being themselves and that could be bullying the poor Gourami. I also wonder what kind of Tetras you have, they could be to active for the single Gourami.

Best plan is to give your Gourami some female companions.

I have a feeling your angels are bullying him when you aren't watching. Fish do act differently when people are in the room after all. He is slowing signs of typical bullying and angels are cichlids and will bully other fish in the tank. You can try adding a few more plants to give him even more shelter, that might help.

Most Gouramis prefer some salt in their water, this might be why it is acting that way. Don't put any salt in though, because I doubt the Angels will like it, if you can, get him 2 or 3 females.

I agree with nosoop4u246- get him one or 2 females.. This might be hard to do- you might have to special order them at your fish store.
