For some reason, I got both a DVD-R and a CD stuck in my iMac. It won't eject either one and when I try to, it freezes up my computer. What can I do besides take it in?

What kind of iMac is it? The older ones (crt) are really easy to take apart.

Google for how to take apart yours. If you get the disk drive out, maybe you could push from the other direction.

First, try the emergency eject though. There should be a hole next to the drive. Put a bent paperclip (small) in this hole and push. This may work.

Does the cd drive have a small hole? like the size of 5 pin heads? If so try sticking a small pin inside while the imac is one. it should pop out.

Straighten out a paper clip and poke it into the hole in the front of the DVD tray (it's a small hole). That will eject the disks.

First, as my favorite book says, Don't panic.
Second, turn off your iMac.
Third, grab a paper clip thin enough to fit in the little hole in front of the affected drives. Then straighten the paper clip.
Fourth, insert the straightened paper clip into the hole and push. You should feel some resistance. Push against the resistance and the drive should open.
