i think that the NFL should change the rules for a year to try out something different. i think it would cool if they got rid of the conference system (afc west, north, south, etc) and had a lottery before the season begins to randomly chose 4 teams to go into into the 8 groups. (much like it is done in FIFA worldcup in soccer) that way there would be more variety in superbowls and stuff. like imagine something that would never happen like 2 AFC teams in the superbowl

That would be pretty cool but I can't imagine my Eagles not beating the Redskins the Cowboys and the Giants' asses twice a year.

I see where you are coming from, but there are a couple of problems. One is the lack of natural rivalries. It's fun to see the Giants and Cowboys play twice a year, or the Patriots and Jets, or Packers and Bears. You would lose that under your plan.

Plus, the travel expenses might go way up. You might have the Bills with the Seahawks, Chargers and 49ers. As a result, you'd have the teams flying across the country constantly, which wouldn't exactly be too fair.

The television networks wouldn't like it, either. Fox pays more than CBS because it has bigger markets; it wouldn't want to lose some of them.

That would definitely be interesting, But if a conference got 4 teams like Lions,Raiders,Browns, And some other horrible team and one of them had to go to the playoffs, it would leave a good team out of the playoffs, Other than that, i think that the fact that 2 AFC teams or NFC teams could go face to face in the Superbowl would be pretty cool.

While it sounds interesting that just doesn't make any sense. The purpose of the superbowl is to see who is better between the AFC and NFC's best teams. Yeah the superbowls have been pretty lopsided lately but the NFC will get back into it eventually. Just have some patience and it will all come through later on.

It's a terrible idea. You're talking about messing with significant historical rivalries and whatnot. As for 2 AFC teams playing in a Super Bowl - ever heard of SB 3, Jets vs. Colts (yes, I know that this was one of four pre-merger Super Bowls, but since the Colts are in the AFC now)?

I rather like the current system as it allows rivalries to develop easier. Also I'm sure the teams like this as it causes at least 6 of there games to be geographically close in most situations...

No way! Then their would be no more Cowboys vs Redskins, Packers vs Bears, Broncos vs Chiefs and other division rivalries.

I like the current system, it would be weird to not see the jets play the pats, bills and fins twice a year...
