So I pulled up my pretty steep driveway, kept it running in neutral and apparently pulled the ebrake only half way up. I was almost inside when I saw it rolling quite rapidly down the hill of my driveway, crash down a 5-foot drop into my neighbors driveway and become caught up on a pile of dirt about 1 foot away from their Saab. Holy ****. Got some friends to help me yank it off the pile of dirt and got it back into my driveway before my father got home. Luckily. It is a 1993 Infiniti G20t, standard, and it is his baby. I cracked the transmission and couldn't bring myself to tell him what had actually happened so I said I had gone over a bad dirt road. He has 6 of these cars and knows everything about them. He is going to see if he can just patch the case up- is this possible? Also, should I have just sucked it up and told him? I never get into accidents and I feel like he would never trust me again... automotive and moral help is greatly appreciated!!!

yeah, you should come clean with Pop. He'll trip but in the long run, you'll get more respect (self respect and respect from him) by being honest.
Oh, and just so you don't feel like a dork, I did almost the exact same thing when I was 18 and had my first car for about a week. Only diff is that is was my car, and it went down a twenty foot embankment, I was sooooo scared my parents were going to kill me that I was a nervous wreck the whole day. I had to pay the tow truck driver in one dollar bills and loose change just to get it hauled up from the bottom of the embankment! Guess what, my parents were just relieved I was okay and they felt a little bad for not showing me how to set the brake correctly and put it in gear. so, you'll survive this one.
On to the tranmission case. Since I don't have pictures of it to see the extent of damage and where it is located, it's hard to say what to do. if its not a structural issue per se, I have seen motors, transmission, differentials and transfer cases that have been cracked or had porous cases and people had used epoxies to fix em. Since your dad is familiar with the car, he probably knows what's best.

Now, go mow the lawn, wash the car, and when your dad gets home, bat your eye lashes and say Daddy, can we talk, geeze, I'm a Dad and my daughter is never in too much trouble, a father is always more concerned with their kids being safe and in one piece, cars can be replaced.

Scrapes and dirt Embedded under the car? Fess up take your Knocks. Tell him your car fell off a four foot wall and missed a 40,000 car, You and friends were just barely able to get it hone before the home owner knew you knocked over the pile of dirt. Hey dad got any extra gear boxes? Guess What I did today? You should have readjusted those parking brake cables... Every body casts blame in the other direction show strength and say I forgot to set the brake stepped out and not the gear box might be ruined.

That's too important of a part to patch, I would think. Better to replace than repair in such a case.

As for what happened, I'd tell him. The damage from something like that isn't even similar to just going over a dirt road, and he'll notice it right away. You should definitely tell him the truth about it.

Besides, he has 5 others. It wouldn't be nearly as bad as if I were to do that to my car---it's the only one I have.

i dont think its posible to patch a transmission i know ive never done it and i work in a shop that sees alot of crazy **** and you shouldnt really patch a trany your best bet would be to just replace it but as far as the other thing is you should have told him cause if he finds out another way he will diffenitly never trust you again you better tell him before he finds out cause if that car is his baby and he finds out anther way the worst thing that will happen is for him to not say nothing at all trust me that hurts

id go ahead and tell him about it ,he,ll trust you a lot better that way,i ran my dads car in to the house one night in the dark, dint hurt the house any but put a large dent in the front bumper, i tried to avoid telling him,he pretended he didn't see it just to see how long id wait to tell him about it,after a week i finally told him,he already knew,i felt kind of bad because i waited so long,he said he actually knew when i had done it ,and was just waiting to see if i would do the right thing,he never took my driving privileges away, but he could have,id tell him ,he,ll respect you a lot more, and don't wait a week like i did,it kept me up a few nights wondering if i should tell him,go ahead and tell him now you,ll feel better about it,good luck hope this helps.

The case may be repairable but most likely will have to be replaced especially if one of the mounts is broken.

It could have been much worse, your father should understand, just tell the truth.

To do it right, you need to replace the case not repair. If you stick with your story, you will feel bad, but it makes this a road hazard and his comprehensive portion of the insurance should pay.
Tell him the truth and you feel better and insurance should still pay most of the repair.

Tell him.

i had a crack in a transmission once and i got some carb cleaner and cleaned the crack out and let it dry, then i put some jb weld on it, and i had that car for 11 yrs. after that, and it never leaked again.

Well, he's going to crawl under it and see all the OTHER damage to the undeside of the car anyway.
If he's as smart as I think he is, he's going to know you lied.

Go tell him the truth.
I have a daughter and I'd be PISSED if she tried to lie to me and I found out any other way than her coming to me and fessing up before I found out.
