No, because they are yours. Picking the ones that the state plants, is like stealing. The state paid for them, so leave them there for everyone to enjoy. You wouldn't, hopefully, go into your neighbor's yard and pick their roses, right? So, picking bluebonnets on state property is like robbing the state's garden.

For the record, if you want to plant your own bluebonnets, I've heard that you need to sow the seeds in the fall for spring blooms.

The answer is no - there is no law against picking our State Flower. I think it's a myth passed along so that the flower would keep its significance. If everyone went around picking bluebonnets like it was a daisy, it would be just another flower. Besides who would actually have the time to ticket and arrest someone for picking a flower? Now trespassing, that's another story.

It's only illegal to pick bluebonnets on public lands like along roadsides. You can pick your own from your garden.

Generally, it is illegal to pick flowers, or shoot wildlife (for the one answer), on protected lands. This could include national forests, BLM land, etc.

On your own property, it's fine.
