Some men wear undershirts to prevent sweat from showing the dress shirt and also to give it a clean look. Is the undershirt supposed to be tight or loose like a t-shirt.

For a T shirt type undershirt, snug fitting is best and most comfortable. If you are not used to it, it might take a few days ,but a snug undershirt is not bulky and if it fits close around the arms and neck it really helps you stay cool and look good. "A" shirts are tight fitting by design for the same reasons though not as good for underarm sweat. Probably most guys prefer to wear crewneck style, except the white t collar shows a bit so some don't. A snug,clean, white t underneath everyday is a good routine, feels good to put on,and can look stylish and cool.
