If you put $1 billion into a bank savings account earning 5% per year, your interest income alone would be about $1 million per week. Assuming that you could spend $1 million per week, you would still have $1 billion in the savings account at the end of the year.

It will buy you the World!
I would divide it up first of all: investments, savings, assist family with mortgages, contribute in a special and important way for a good cause, have a trip around the world, and buy you something very special!

Isn't it interesting - for in days gone by one would say 'a million dollars' - you use 'billion' and very shortly it will be 'trillion' then 'zillion' - after all, it is only a 'number'!!!

Probably a very good drug habit if you didn't earn it. If you did earn it you probably already know what it will buy, usually something that will make another billion.

About half a Trident nuclear submarine (w/o missiles).

If I had $1 billion I'd give half of it away.

It would buy about 1,538,462 ounces of Gold @ $650 per ounce or about 47.85 metric tonnes of Gold @ $650 per ounce.

But what I'd really, really use it for, would be to get Ron Paul nominated & elected to President.
