I see it on television a lot as well. They always follow it with laughter. To my understanding it is something quite painful and I cannot understand the humor. I also worry children will think its akin to giving someone a nuggie. I do think when I see it that kids are going to grow up thinking its relatively harmless, when indeed it is not.

Unfortunately, many guys find it hilarious to hit a friend in that area... and I never have understood why. When I was in high school, the guys would do it to each other passing by in the hallways. They'd laugh, of course, while the other doubles over from the pain. All of the girls absolutely hated it.
Since I've been out of high school, I haven't seen it happen too often, except with the younger crowd. The kids in my youth group at church do it to each other sometimes, and we always have to tell them to stop. Like you, I don't understand how it's funny for anyone.
I guess it's the immaturity coming out in us all that makes us laugh. "HAHA, he got kicked in the balls!!"

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Even the conservative AMERICA'S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS constantly shows vids of men being hit in the crotch. The reason it's become the norm is because women get off on hurting men, especially in their privates. I see it constantly, and not just on TV. I watch women's reactions to it. Women promote male genital mutilation (circumcision), and are taught to hit a guy in the groin for self defense (ever see a karate instructor tell guys to deck a girl in the breasts or groin? NO!). I wouldn't let a woman touch me for all the gold on earth and I am so glad I am gay.

Just another reason why TV is by, of, and for idiots. Well, except for The Daily Show.

Not really. It's not considered taboo among teens as long as they're doing it as a joke, but it certainly isnt a norm.

Just one more example of how society cultivates Men to hate and devalue Men.

Lots of guys bag tag others at school. They think it is funny. I would say yes, it is becoming normal.

I would hope not. My understanding is that it is very painful, why would anyone want to inflict pain on another human being?

It isn't funny - its assault. If somebody does it to me I am going to make their brain an object for viewing.
