the trade evened out to me. with the potential starting lineup being: Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Al Jefferson, Rajon Rando, and Glen Davis. With good reserves, is Boston a contender in the Atlantic division, and the Eastern Conference. In basic terms, was the trade worth it, and will it work. Will Pierce and Allen be good together.

i like the thought of having pierce and ray allen on the court at the same time, having those 2 scorers will take scoring pressure off of big al jefferson, so then big al will end up with easier baskets. and rondo does many things well as a point guard, he can pass, drive the lane, his shooting is weak but best of all he can play great d, and big baby probably wont be the starting center, i assume perk will, but yeah anyways dont be surprised if they trade for more vets (camby) and make a run for it over the next couple of years.

im actually excited about the celtics this year.

With or without the trade for Ray Allen, the Celtics were poised to get back into the playoffs this year. Now, with Ray Allen to play alongside Pierce, the Celtics WILL make the playoffs. However, Danny Ainge has to make some more moves to acquire a decent starter at center and a quality backup PG.
I don't get how acquiring an almost 32-yr old all-star guard (Ray Allen) and the draft rights to a rookie with upside (Glen Davis) while losing a 30-yr old marginal all-star and always injured swingman (Wally Szczerbiak) and a young combo guard who is turning 24 yrs old (Delonte West) and a rookie (Jeff Green) suddenly transforms the Celtics from a very young, inexperienced team lacking veteran leadership, into a very old team (according to some, at least). And even if Ainge did not trade away the 5th pick, does anyone really think that any of the available players will solve the Celtics' problems at center? Only Oden is the sure thing at center during the draft. So, either way, the Celtics will still need to trade for a decent center. Marcus Camby could be a very good option. I'd gladly trade Gerald Green and Ratliff for Camby.

No, but its a good start. Celtics did pass up a good oppritunity to get great new young talent, but isnt that what the celtics are now? They have too many young guys, and now Paul Pierce will actually have someone to dominate with. I really think Glen Davis has a good future. So yes, it was worth it.

I think it might make them a playoff contender, but can't possibly win them a championship, so after a few years when Paul Pierce and Ray Allen start to age, then what? They might suck even worse than last year by then.

Nah because the thing is about them two is they are now injury prone if pierce didn't get injured their season wouldn't went down hill and we just added another injurey prone guy the likelyness of both of them being injured is a great possiblilte so what hapens if they do ......we bring in the rookies and this year will be a repeat

It depends what you mean by "fixing the problem."

If the problem is to get into the playoffs, I think the problem has been addressed. If the problem, however, is to get into the finals, the problem has not been addressed. It all depends on your expectations.

It sounds good to me, but I don't see them making the playoffs next year. I do expect more wins, but they really don't impress me much.
