Their will be video cards twice as fast as the 8800Ultra by February of next year, just a little bit sooner than they year 3050. As for the bigger than an airplane thing, haven't you noticed that over time computer parts get smaller, old computers used to take up entire floors of buildings and had less processing power than a $50 PDA does now.

By the year 3050 I don't think we will have to worry about video cards as the world as we know it will no longer exist due to the rapid rate of destruction of the earth but if we were all still here and the world kept plugging away I highly doubt that monitors would eve exist. Porbably have a small device on an intergrated circuit that was capable of projecting full 3 D envoronment all around you sort of like the holadeck on startek lol Keep in mind that is over 1000 years from now and look at the rate of technalogical advances today.

The first computer, made of vacuum tubes, was built around 70 years ago. By the year 3050, we cannot even begin to imagine what will have replaced the computer, video display, and computer games. We don't even have the terminology (computer as a term is what? invented in Babbage's time? 'PC' wasn't a term before 1970, and didn't become a 'word' in its own right until the late 1980's.

To answer your question directly, no, i don't think video cards will exist in 3050, except perhaps on display in a museum. Where can you go today, to see the 'modern' tools used in the year 950?
