Hi, if you are sure that it is definitely two months (I never used to pay close attention!!) then I would go straight to the Docs. They do a blood test which can confirm if you are Peri Menopausal or in the Menopause. They may also do a pregnancy test because ...stranger things have happened but your mind will be put at ease. If you can, go straight to a Gynaecologist as they give you the results there and then (or mine did) which is cool. Just make sure if they want you to fast before the test. The Gynocologyst will also talk to you about the different stages, symptons Etc
You can buy a test over the counter its about $35 but, save your money. I did the test, it said I wasn't peri men and I was.....
Check out knowmenopause.com its a fab site.

Good luck. & welcome to the club :)

Yeah, I remember those days! It started around there for me as well, but I'm 49 now and still getting periods once in awhile, very sporadically. The last one lasted 12 days, while the ones before lasted a day or two and came months apart. The only way you'll know for sure when it's over is when you haven't had a period in a years' time. But it does sound like it's starting...it's called peri-menopause.

I doubt that you are menopausal at 41- you are probably entering the perimenopausal period when your menses can get irregular. Just to be sure you should do one pregnancy test as nothing is 100% in life. Do keep a menstrual log so that if they are really stretching out you can take the log in to your physician or NP and discuss this symptom- sometimes your body will need a little progesterone to get back on track.

You could be going through what doctors call perimenopause
Symptoms of perimenopause may go untreated and undiagnosed for years and years, causing a woman to experience unnecessary stress and worry.
Symptoms of perimenopause often go undiagnosed because there is so little information about this stage of a woman’s life. Most women know that menopause is defined by the cessation of the menstrual cycle and typically hits between the ages 45-55. But few women know about perimenopause. Perimenopause is the stage in a woman’s life that prepares her body for menopause during the 3-5 years before menopause actually hits. During this stage, your estrogen levels may rise and your other hormone levels will drop, causing a host of symptoms. Some symptoms of perimenopause are associated with those of menopause. Hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia are a few, but because women continue to menstruate throughout perimenopause, they might not even realize their bodies preparing for menopause and that their fluctuating hormone levels are the cause of the changes in their bodies.

This stage of life is difficult to diagnose because most symptoms of perimenopause match up with those of PMS, or even just a bad day: Anger, anxiety, backache, bloating, mood swings, fuzzy thinking, loss of sexual desire, and irritability are a few examples. Women who don’t know they’re going through perimenopause may experience these symptoms for years and years without even considering that dropping hormone levels may be to blame. In the meantime, they may simply feel like there’s “something wrong” with them or that they’re going crazy. They may attribute their extra stress and irritability to the increasing pressures of advancing in their career or raising growing children.

Well it sounds like it might be the case, have your doctor do a blood test he will be able to tell where your estrogen and progestrone levels are and if you are perimenopausal, check the other signs like, hot flushes, depression, mood swings, being thirsty a lot, being continually tired, talk to the women's health centre in your area, they are usually a fountain of information
all the best with everything

Sounds like it. Hot flashes? some weight gain? dryness? Sometimes stress can mess up your cycle. Give it a week and see your doctor if you don't get back to "normal". They can give you some meds that will get your period back on its regular cycle or prevent it from happening altogether. My wife just went through this over the last few years. Good luck.
