the stool softeners are perfectly safe to use, they will not cause your medications to go right thru you. In fact most medications are made to dissolve in your stomach, long before they ever reach the bowel. What the stool softeners do once they reach your bowel is dissolve to attract water to the bowel and make the stool soft. You need to drink at least two liters of water every day while takeing stool softeners or you could become dehydrated.

Any whole grains such as oats or rye will do the trick. Make sure they are WHOLE, just add milk and heat on stove. You will be in the bathroom within minutes. Also, coffee is a stimulant as well as a diuretic, and will assist in your bowels. Also, dried apricots work extremely well also. The above have never failed for me.

Try homeopathic products. Sulfur at 30 C works well and can be found online.

There are multiple homeopathic treatments for constipation and they are safe to take with medication.

Go to www.abchomeopathy.com and you can do a search for a remedy based on your specific requirements. It is called their online symptom finder. It will recommend other homeopathic remedies other than sulfur that you can try. With homeopathics sometimes one remedy will work for one person but not another. So, try one remedy and if it does not work try a different one. Typically you will see results within 1-2 days.

just make sure you don't use the stool softeners or any synthetic laxative regularyl because they WILL cause you to become dependant up on them and they will try to overpower your digestive system. eat more fibre (2 apples a day...more whole wheat, bran, oats) coffee helps some people, chili, beans, and peas

Just say "NO" to Senna, very bad for the body's natural regularity. I would say that using some magnesium should do it. Take magnesium til you get loose stool. Magnesium wont kill your peristalsis like Senna does.

Plenty of oranges should overcome the problem or any citrus fruit for that matter.
