but He won't read them, yet he keep throwing us theories of what he thinks will happen based on what he's seen in the movies.
So, what should I do? I don't want to spoil the books for him, but he really gets mad when his wife and I smile when he inquires on his own theories (and usually they're wrong), and that we won't tell him. Note: He is 33, and I am 21.

I've told him to read the books but he's one of those people who has trouble reading. I've also offered the option of the audio books, but he still gets mad because his wife and I are rereading the books (this will by like my 8th time) and he knows that both of us know them inside and out.

And now he's acting like a child by not speaking to me, or his wife, and going out for hours at a time...which is highly unusual for him.

If he REALLY gets mad, tell him. It'll get him off your back. If he doesn't want the story spoiled, your telling him will teach him not to ask.
And if he REALLY gets mad, he should probably find a hobby.

I say that you are on the right track with the audiobooks idea. If he is so turned off by the idea of reading, then maybe you and his wife should start him off with a bottle of wine (or a six pack to taste) and have a little listening party! I am also 21, and have soooo many friends who have either only read a couple, or dont read any at all and base all of their knowledge off of the movies. I even know some people who looove Miss Granger, but havent a clue what SPEW is. Telling him what happens in the books is taking away some of the "magic" that comes with discovering secrets word by word. Try the audiobook approach. I think you can get him that way.

If he refuses to read them, then keep suggesting the audio books and point out he can get them completely unabridged. He can listen to them while on the way to work, etc.
If he keeps refuseing, then maybe the two of you might want to stop discussing the books around him.

Could your friend be like my husband? He's seen all the movies, but not touched the books. I asked him that since the last book is *finally* coming out, whether he'd like me to send him to books to read... (he's deployed) and he said yes!! I guess he saw the torture I was going thru and decided not to partake in it... now he can read them all knowing he won't have to wait years for the ending!

Don't spoil them cuz I am 12 and I've read them all and I haven't spoiled them for any of my friends! ^_^ Just tell him that you had to find out by reading and he should too. You wanted to know so you read. If he wants to know he should read.

if he doesn't want to read them, but wants to know what happens why wouldn't you tell him. thats weird.
GROW UP....... it's not some big conspiracy that people who don't read can't know... how would you feel if you missed a show you liked and asked someone what happened, but they wouldn't tell you. don't say that this is different either because it's the exact same thing. it's just in this scenario you should be able to see how childish your acting. In fact by telling him you might spark his interest more to the point he does want to read them.

hes being really dumb. dont spoil it for him. if he wont read the books, then he can just watch the movies, even though they dont always stick to the book, theyre the same basic thing.

He's 33?Doesn't sound like it. If he gets mad let him get mad. It's not your fault he won't go near the books.
