"This is very bad news for Mexican migrants in the U.S.," said Jorge Bustamante, special rapporteur to the U.N. human rights commission for migrants. "It means the continuation and probably a worsening of the migrants' vulnerable conditions."

Really why are they not concentrating on why they are coming to the US to begin with? Why are they not concerned with the poverty that the Mexican government does not seem to be bothered by?

Because you're being lied to.

That specific commission worried about immigrants in other countries (e.g. "human rights commission for migrants"), it's an entirely different commission that worries about the conditions in their native country.

The UN is a byzantine bureaucracy, and it's best to just ignore it.

Finally, I've got a kindred spirit. I'm with ya 100% Chiquita! Big business in this country wants illegal immigration so they don't have to pay anything but chump change in wages, and nada in benefits! We need to support candidates in Mexico who will do something for their people down there besides sending them north to look for work. In the last election Obrador wanted to do something for his people south of the border so they didn't have to sneek across the border to find work. Our (the US government) portrayed him as a Communist. God help us if the Communists are the only ones who want to do something for their people anymore, but that's the way it was portrayed in the good old USA. We all know the results now. Sad to say, but McCarthyism is still alive and well in the USA!

The same reason the Mexican government worries more about Mexicans in America than Mexicans in Mexico...

Hypocrisy.

The UN has it in for the USA, that's a given.

But, from a strictly humanitarian point of view, when a nation moves towards expelling refugees - even economic refugees - it's a bad thing. Yes, the conditions that made them into refugees are a worse thing, of course, but that doesn't excuse 'turning your back' on those in need.

Of course, IMHO, the strictly humanitarian PoV is hopelessly unrealistic utopian BS, but still, we should be aware of it.

Because they want poor from their countries to be able to go to countries with services subsidized and send back money too.

They have been trying to frame it as a universal right to go have other people pay for you.

Because the UN in general seems to be against the US. I think you are absolutely right.

Why ask why when it comes to the UN? Why aren't they concentrating on Darfur? The US needs to pull out of the UN.

mexico is run by people of european decent not the indigenous people that live in slums or farms. european mexicans basically spit on the natives and don't care to help them. they would rather see them leave and come here.
