Here in Florida the state government does not recognize same-gender marriage - HOWEVER, Broward County (home of Ft. Lauderdale & Wilton Manors) offers Civil Unions, and gays & lesbians can be married by county officals (if they want). The County Clerk gives couples an official certificate and wallet licenses. Married same-gender couples of Broward County are treated as married by all county officials and are protected within the county against any form of discrimination in hospitals, businesses, employment, county benefits, housing, and lodging. Come on down to Ft. Lauderdale!
