Which is the best answer for this question? After the Revolution and into the 19C, the issue of child labor was not seen as a serious social problem because:

a. Parents never had their children work in factories

b.Americans educated their children at home; they did not contribute to family economies

c. Across time and cultures, children have worked and contributed to the family economy; because America was industrializing did not mean they shouldn't work in labor jobs

You should read your textbooks, these are not hard questions, but...
a) and c). Social Darwinism was racially obsessed.

In Britain in the 1820s (or -30s) there was a government inquiry into child labour in factories, and although stories of injury, danger and neglect were heard, what REALLY upset the ruling classes was a child who did not know who Jesus was.
