They're all pretty small. And I think it'll be ok.

I'm new to the hobby and.. the fis people said 3 small fish would be OK in a 5 gallon tank. 25 Years of experience, so i'll trust them >_<

The fish you have would be compatible, but I woudn't keep them in anything smaller than 20-30 gallons.

It's not just the size of the tank compared to the size of the fish that's an issue - the temperature and water chemistry won't be as stable in a smaller tank, and although the fish are "semi-aggressive", they are more territorial than freshwater species, so need to have more "personal" space.

I've kept as small as 2.5 gallon reef tanks, but these didn't have fish - only inverts.

No.

Sorry to tell you but a 5 gallon tank is not big enough to support one of those fish let alone all three. I just can't advocate putting any fish in a tank that size.

Maybe look into a shrimp? Get some mushrooms and some zoo polyps. It will still be very cool. Fish don't have to be and aren't the main focus of many saltwater tanks.

Fish stores are hit and miss. Some of them will see you are new to the hobby, take advantage of that and try to get every penny you are willing to spend. And others really do care. Sounds to me like you are dealing with the former. Try another store but the most important thing is to do research on your own, read, read and read everything you can find. There is tons of info out there on the web, just do a search on google.

im with copper, i have had small tanks as well, but no fish. they will be ok for a while, until they suffocate or die of ammonia poisoning. the firefish maybe by itself, but i wouldnt give it much of a chance long term, royal gramma, same. the clown will die bfore it gets 3", you will win the powerball before you keep all those fish together in the same 5g for mroe than 6 months, and im being noce on the 6 months, 6 days in my opinion is 10x longer than they will live, soory if i sound rude. i mean they are small now, but they will get bigger, 8-10' pof fish is to much for a 20g much less a 5g. look inot oxygen solubility in saltwater.

they'll fight over food and the royal gramma is a bit aggressive, the clown can be, the fiorefish will proilly try and run off to hide.
