Im not too familiar with all the specs of electric refrigeration units for homes but is it possible one of these can make a loud pop or explosion sound that louder of a muffler backfire or as loud as a high powered gun? Im if so the location on the ground between 2 homes can amplifi it but if can this be possibly what im hearing? Im sure it is and if so does anyone know why? any contractors here, refer repair pros here know? Many thanks. Im sure its no fireworks etc because I was outside one day and i heard it. Im sure it is but why does it do that? i would like to find out before a fire or something possibly happens. I also dont wanna have my head next to it if it goes, dont know if itll make me deaf lol. but thanks in advance for help, very appreciated!

a correction for above after the gun sound thing, *Im sure the location on the ground between 2 homes can amplifi it but if can this be possibly what im hearing?* little error i had in wording lol.

But the sound seems to come like at points of 12 or so hours apart maybe like 10 1/2 or so. It recently started last week.

Thing is both of us ( me and guy next door) both have these units and mine is about 15 feet from his on my side of the fence. so un sure if its mine or his. he doesnt see to care otehr then hes loosing sleep at night when it goes pop but im afraid a fire may happen. i thought about calling a pro to come look at it but wanted to see if anyone has a idea.

This doesn't sound right. Contact your neighbor and express your concern to them. It could be arcing from a worn contactor, or the fan hitting something, hard to tell over the internet. It needs to be inspected by a qualified technician.

I would be afraid of fire too. I would contact the contractors.
