Common sense people, this is America...we won our freedom at a price, and that price was paid in blood. We as Americans should not have to watch our possessions stolen.......what twisted sick logic is that? America was built by people defending freedom and PROPERTY....why does anyone feel we have to sit idly by and watch our property taken away? The police cant be everywhere and property crimes are a low priority.
We need to understand, we are NOT the professional victim in America...the people need to stand up and defend ourselves from criminals.
Property crimes are CRIMES.......we dont have to babysit criminals anymore.......who the hell thinks a criminal has more rights than his victim?

If a victim shoots a criminal....the the victim is the criminal for shooting the perpetrator????? how twisted has our country become?

110%.

We should all be required to serve in the military or some "peace" organization for those who are pacifists. 2 years in such an organization could help solve a lot of the problems we have.

Also we could be like the swiss and issue everyone who served their own rifle and rounds and make it the law they have to have it in their house.

The swiss haven't had a war in 500 years. I think they must be on to something.

I'm gonna pick me up a Remington 700 300 win mag sometime later this year.

My SKS just doesn't do it for me.

There are 4 conditions that must be met before lethal force can be condoned and the user of such force absolved from criminal prosecution. 1. The person committing the crime must have the capability to cause serious bodily harm or death ( ie wielding a machete or pointing a gun ). 2. The person committing the crime must be in a position to cause serious bodily harm or death ( wielding a machete 100 yards away obviously would not qualify, but doing so from 10 yards would ). 3. The person must demonstrate INTENT to cause serious bodily harm or death. And 4th, You the "victim" must have exercised all other available options prior to resorting to the use of lethal force.
If you can prove these four things to a jury of your peers, then there is no need to fear being incarcerated. Please note that the protection of property is not addressed, nor should it be. Even though the person robbing you is a scumbag, he is still a person and his life ( to be spent behind bars one hopes ) is more valuable than any material possessions.

I agree. And I'm actually serious when I say that my life,my families lives, and even my material possessions are worth more than the life of a thief, murderer, rapist, etc.Once again I know its a cruel thing to think but if everyone had this kind of attitude there would almost be no such thing as a criminal.

I do. If you read the Federalist papers and other writings from the Founding Fathers, they clearly felt that all citizens have the right to defend their family and property. Personally, I train for the possibility that one day I may have to kill someone to defend my family. I could not sit by and do nothing while my family is in harms way.

I agree to a point. Only use the lethal force if it's necessary to perserve your life or the life of your family, or the person is very dangerous.
For instance if someone breaks into your house to steal your stuff I think you should be able to shoot him if you have to or just knock him out. If someone breaks into your house to try to abduct your children you shoot him dead.

I don't know about using deadly force to defend property, but I fully support the use of deadly force to protect your life, or the lives of your loved ones.

Nope,

I agree anyone should be able to defend thier life with deadly force.

Including shooting anyone who breaks into your house, you shouldn't have to prove that your life was specificly in danger.

But I don't think you should be able to use deadly force to prevent someone from stealing your baseball glove.

Property is just property after all.

I do. If they are trying to take it with deadly force. If criminals knew there would be immediate consequences they would think twice before acting.

No, protecting your life or your family is one thing, defending your property is entirely different. Deadly force implies your intent is to kill the person. We have courts for things like property disputes, theft, and vandalism. Lethal force in an situation like that goes a step too far.
