Seen this problem on other cars including one of my own, bet your catalytic converter is shot, which will build up back pressure and cause the motor to stop, have it cut out and replace with a section of exhaust pipe

Theres a component called IAC. (Idle Air Control) usually located near or on the throttle body. Symptoms of a faulty IAC are poor idling and stalling. Check for correct installation of fuel filter. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and find the specs and compare. Good Luck

Take it back to the mechanic and have them run a diagnostic on the electronic fuel injection system and you electronic ignition.. You see these systems are protected by fuses and they could be coming close to needing replacement. Or it could also be that to the age of the car these parts could need replacing due to age and wear.

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

You might try to check for vac. leaks at intake and air cleaner duct work. possible map or mass air flow sensors being bad also.Check wires going to ignition control module. Also might be a crank sensor.
