Maybe theres lines in the bigger cities or something. We live in a small town and I havent seen anyone camping out or even thinking about camping out.
I did see 3 people "camped out" inside Wal-Mart when the PS3 were supposed to arrive though.

Apparently 12 whole people were in line at one of our AT&T stores since this morning!!! Yes I can't believe it either!!! LOL The iPhone seems cool but I definately won't pay that price for a device that the country is just learning about. I'm sure in the next few days iPhone owners will start complaining about something like usual. Then there is the fact that its only offered through AT&T. In my area AT&T/Cingular service really stinks. I had a razr through them for 6 days before returning it and canceling my contract to go back to sprints network because I kept dropping calls all over the place. Definately will never go back with them because it took them 4 months to refund my money for that contract and the phone. When I returned it they told me that since I paid cash they had to have their accountant send me out a check and it would take 3 weeks. Well 4 months later, several contacts with their accounting office and lied to several times and a letter to the better business bureau I finally got my money back. Never do business with them again.

i live in nyc and this morning when i was out, i saw a line outside the at&t store by union square. but it wasnt a really large line.
i also saw another line around soho. but again the line wasnt too long.
from what i heard, the iphone isnt that good. the touch screen isnt good because it breaks easily. and i think the price was only going to range from about $50 to $100 something.

I was number 7 in line of hundreds, it was actually alot of fun for the whole 12 hours we sat out there. I made some new friends we had some conversation and relaxed in lawn chairs on a sidewalk drinking starbucks all day instead of working.

I work for att and I am proud to say that our store is not one of the ones that is carrying it yet. People are crazy if that go out and get that phone considering its a first generation phone. Its going to encounter so many problems! Its not 3g, its completely touch screen, so imagine what happens if it gets scrached! Also with no removable battery, if the battery goes out, you out of luck bc you cannot carry insurance on a PDA! Dont you guys remember the problems with the first generation ipods!

Thats a miracle. Usually people are waiting out there for stuff like that. Like when the PS3 came out people were waiting at stores everywhere.

CNN said only two stores are selling them, sorry I don't remember the names, One store has a limit of two per customer and the other one just one.
You also have to be an AT&T customer to buy one.
