I thought it was all a big joke, and then I found out that the Patterson-Gilman film has NEVER been proved to be a fake, even when scientists went after it in the late 90's. They kept saying that in 1967 it was impossible to create a fur suit that would show such defined muscle movement underneath as seen in the footage. The best special-effects people in Hollywood at the time couldn't duplicate it and said that if it was a suit, it was the best one they'd ever seen.

Some guy claimed to be the guy in the suit, along with a whole crowd of other people, but when they walked in a fur suit their arms were far too short and they weren't nearly tall enough so in fact THEY were the ones debunked.

My question is...am I losing it? Or could there really be Bigfoot???? How fun would that be!

This guy's Web site explains many of the reasons the Patterson film is hard to disprove - has to do with likelihood of finding a human over 7'3" with arms that long, etc. He explains how the combination of unlikely factors only makes them exponentially unlikely. Apparently they did things like go back and film the same site with a man there so they could concretely determine how tall the "bigfoot" was, etc.

This is the beauty of the legend, and others like it. Even though there is no irrefutable proof of Bigfoots' existence, likewise, there is no proof that it doesn't exist. The legend has been handed down for generations in one form or another so that is proof enough of at least the reasonable possibility of it's existence. The fact is it would be significantly more difficult to prove that Bigfoot doesn't exist than it would to prove that it does. Myself, I choose to keep an open mind. I think it is possible that Bigfoot does exist. To be honest though, I hope it is never proven because then the mystery is over.

Always cracked me up: "such well-defined muscles." Why? Just because somebody said so? Like the flag waving on the moon? No, there was no muscle definition at all. (And the flag on the moon never waved.) Some kook who got on a dumb documentary, falsely called himself an expert, saw a shadow and said it was proof of muscles.
Also, the head hardly turned at all without the body turning with it. Apes, all of them, can turn their heads without turning their bodies. However, a man in an ape suit would have a hard time turning the head by itself, so it would look just like the film. A seam has been identified in the suit, but in all honesty I can't see it.
This film is one of the most thoroughly debunked hoaxes in the history of woo-woo-dom. Consider this: we have identified species which are strictly nocturnal, in much harder places to access, very small, and extremely rare. Yet no one has scientifically verified the existence of bigfoot.
You're in the right section. It is folklore--fueled by fraud and money-grubbing opportunists.

Kilroymaster, I'm sorry, but you seem to believe in every bogus notion you've ever heard unless it directly contradicts the bible. Whether you think you have had these experiences or are just making them up because you're pathological that way, I don't know, but there's no such thing as bigfoot, or aliens messing with our atmosphere, or vampires, or werewolves, or the absolute literal accuracy of the whole bible, the devil, the antichrist, ghosts, the supernatural powers of Ouija boards, unicorns, demons, shadow people, or any of the other stuff you are on record as believing in. Get real.

If you are asking the question, Does big foot exist.. Yes beyond all reasonable doubt I have to say yes....... Because I have had two very close encounters with them.. I am talking about being in three feet of one and less then ten feet of the other.... I and over 30 people the first time witness two men trying to grab that big foot only to have watch them to be thrown more then ten feet away and land with a huge thump... And I watch track and field like millions of other people and I have never seen a man cover such a great distance in such a short period of time, trying to put distance between it and us.... And I do mean that it was that fast... And the way that creature smelled so bad that it brought tear to some of us eyes..... And you could see its muscles ripple while it was throwing those two men away from itself..... Also I was in the United States army and was on a military exercises in the deep Washington states woods when this incident happen.... And all of us had blank bullets in our rifles... also one of those men hit it with a rifle butt and it did not even slow it down.. That creature was at least eight feet tall and it could move like a trained runner.............Also you can even thought it had brown and black fur you could not see it standing next to a tree, and it stank so bad that many of us were looking down so we could avoid stepping into what ever it was that stank so badly........ Boy were we suprised by it being so close................................
