I'm still laughing about someone asking is Hull in Iowa LOL!
Anyway, I believe what you are seeing is just some very big storm clouds, and possibly some funnel cloud formations. This wouldn't be the first time this month that has happened in your area. I would just stay indoors until the weather clears.

Weather in the UK is horrible and there are lots of clouds of all different shapes rain and winds and a little sun around . Last night I left my daughters who lives out in the countryside and as we looked out across the fields and down towards the river the sky was full of clouds of different shapes it looked like a picture of a big city ,in many colours .Don't worry about what you saw .I don't think you were hallucinating the skys always changing with wind and other things that affect it . There are often reports of freak weather conditions on tv .

Sounds like tornado--also called a funnel cloud. They can form and then disappear in a matter of minutes. Hull? Where, GA? May very well be tornado.

Dear kimmie k. It is just probably water vapour being blown about by the wind, water vapours tend to be very light (giving you the constant change in shape), It is not the fact that you see it coming or going, water vapour disappears quite quickly if the sun is out or the higher altitude is warmer, and the wind in moving upwards. The reason for it coming and going is that water does vanishes very much like the steam from a kettle. Once one has disappeared another may take it's place Don't worry your not going mad, your just seeing nature at its best. Good luck............David

It could be a funnel cloud that is the beginning of a tornado ! If it disappeared that's a good thing! We had one last week and we have never had them before that I know of! It was just a funnel cloud and didn't turn into a tornado thank goodness!!

Its because of turbulence in the atmosphere and the storm brewing. Its nothing to worry about it happens quite a lot near the coast. and never mind about living in hull! I suppose someone has too lol

There was a report in the newspaper a few days ago, along with some awesome piccies, of a tornado up that way... Maybe it's another one... Check the BBC website for any updated weather warnings. Apparently it's gonna be rough this weekend - sorry hon.

Do you have any severe weather warnings or anything? Is it possible what you are seeing is a funnel cloud?
