My friend is 21 and I've known her since we were 14.

Not only is her partner 40 years older but she's also a woman (which is fine by me, I just didn't even know she was gay until this)

She just told me and I've told her that I'm happy for her, which is true.

But I'm having a hard time understanding why she would want to do this. What I am asking is if you could help me understand this.

I'm happy for her just totally confused.

Your friend is probably going through a phase.Be patient and supportive,I guarantee this relationship won't last long.

Did your friend seem happy when she told you about her new partner?

Is her partner wealthy and that could be the reason your friend wants this relationship? I mean no offense by that question.

May-December romances do happen and sometimes they work out.

It is a bit odd that you have known your friend since she was 14 and she never told you she was gay.

Have you met your friend's partner? If not, perhaps you could ask your friend for an introduction. The three of you could go out to lunch or something. You may realize what she sees in her partner.

I agree that it is a confusing situation.

Good luck!

Why are you so upset with her dating an older man?

Have you ever met him while they were together or alone?

Do you know why she prefers an older man to a much older man?
I tell you, some of the younger guys are out for one thing and dont care how they get it and have no couth about them and think they are God's gift to women.

Ask her to introduce her to her man and get to know him before you go crazy with confusion.

I know a man that is online dating with a much younger woman and is about the same age as this man. I say if she is happy with him in her life, dont be confused..just be happy for her and let them live their lives.
I am all for it if they are happy!

Bring out the pros and cons of her relationship. Love is something unexplainable. Your friend is not in love. Take Anna Nicole Smith, 20 year old and an 80 year old. It is good that you have told her that you back her up. Pretty soon your friend will realize she is making a mistake. God didn't put us on this earth to date people 40 years older. Tell your friend she is going to end up like Anna Nicole.

I think that is way to big of an age gap. I think your friend is looking for a mother, or grandmother figure.

that's tottally funny. 60omg. well my advice to you is to be happy for her. but i don't know why that old. maybe she thinks there aren't alot of gays or something. she should go to one of those gay bars to find someone better. or it could be that the old lady spoils her.
