Most of the light that is emitted from a 'black light' is invisible to human eyes, so because we cannot sense it, we call it black. Yes it can appear violet, but that is the nearest 'color' we can see. Most of the electromagnetic radiation arising form a black light is not visible. If you reflect it off something visible, you see the enhanced colors of the thing, more so than the black light. Do not look at the light directly. See what an aquarium looks like in black light: the fish are enhanced, due to he reflection of the intense effects of the EMR, which you see reflected.
