They can, and it's known as inbreeding and not advisable because of genetic and health problems. They usually are sickly and can be deformed.

Is it possible? yes
Is it a good idea? NO
Interbred animals tends to pass along to their offspring bad genes. This is why you see certain breeds of animals like dogs that have common issues, they do not have a very diverse gene pool.
Putting it simply, If you have 2 animals with half of a bad gene each that breed together the offspring will have a very good likely hood of getting a full dose of the bad gene and end up with a problem. (note the parents might be perfectly normal and OK carrying only half the gene but with 2 halves then you have a problem)

Dogs don't know nor do they care if they are related. If they are together and the female is in heat, they will breed. But, you will end up with some puppies that have many problems. When brother and sister breed, the genes they carry for the defects, deformities will double up and cause them to have lots of problems.
You need to get them spayed/neutered to prevent any problems

They can, but they shouldn't. In-breeding dogs makes for weaker offspring since it can amplify the negative traits. But if you leave a sexually mature male and female alone together, even if they're litter mates, you're going to end up with puppies, so either neuter them or separate them.

It can happen but don't let it... besides amplifying the negative traits in a breed, there is also the mental stability to be concerned with. Dogs can be more apt to attack for no apparant reason...when they are in bred too much.
You've seen what inbreeding does in people...not a pretty thing....so why would you expect it to be different in animals.

I wouldn't recommend it..the gene pool is too close..like a male dog mating with his daughter..not wise if you want good healthy pups.

Yes they can. Two years ago, my class was taught about this in science. The problem is that almost always, when this happens, the offspring is born aggressive.
