How would you feel about a mayor being paid while waiting in line for an i-phone? Is this government waste or abuse of office?

fdm. Don't you think he should be adressing those problems instead of buying the newest toy? I don't pay him,i'm just against government waste. Your indifference may be the reason the city is in such bad shape.

this mayor has been a joke since he took office. here the major qualification to be mayor is to be democrat and black. at first i thought, atleast he didn't have another city employee getting it for him, but then he had a city cop stand in line for him while he went to lunch!

I'm sure the mayor is paid a salary, which doesn't distinguish between his 'work' hours and his 'personal' hours. So, how can you assume the city paid his to shop?? If he was buying the iPhone for his personal use, he was on his personal time at 3:00 a.m.; if he was buying the iPhone for his work-related use, he was on his work-related time. So what's your point? -RKO- 06/29/07

Well, he said he was doing his work at the same time. maybe he was lieing, maybe not. I do know people in high parts of their work who can do it while at the beach or something. Also, one woman suggested him not having ti wait inline and just to get it. I think that's worse that he would be using people who could be something better than having him sitting and waiting like evryone else has to.

I'm sure nobody complains when he works on the weekends, evenings. This is surely the least of Philly's problems. Our transit system is broke, our schools are broke and under performing, we are the murder capital of North America! But thanks for keeping an eye on Street's shopping habits.

That's no different than any other person paying taxes so that our leaders can give themselves raises and buy drugs and sex.
