Your parents were once your age and understand exactly how you feel and only want whats best for you. Theve been through the same things you go through and are a bit wiser for it. the best thing to do is to sit down and talk to them and really listen to what they say and ask alot of questions. hope this helps.

Maybe you should take a step back and think of what it's like in their shoes. You know, having to clothe, feed, and provide for ungrateful children. Or if you're an only child, having to provide for an ungrateful child. What are you, 13? Wait till you turn 16, (15 in some states) and get a job, then buy what you want yourself.
Everything isn't black and white & your parents are more than likely breaking their necks to make sure you have a decent life. Raising a child, owning a home, working, It's all a hell of alot worse than high school. It's called responsibility. It's a *****.

Are you crying because they don't want to buy you something?/ If yes then pathetic.. go find a job and get it yourself. Parents only do what is best and if they don't think it's a need then why should they feel bad. There's a limit to spoiling little brats like you and letting them learn that life is NOT easy. It takes guts in the "real world" to make it and to live it. THEY KNOW what it is like to be in your shoes!! They were there once when they were younger. Later on in life, when you have children and they are whining like you are about not getting something they want. Then why don't you look back at this question and get in their shoes.

I'm a parent, so let me see if I can help with this. The first thing you need to do is to remember that your parents were once your age and had the same wants and needs as you do right now. They came through it and probably learned a lot on there way. I'm sure, that if your parents are not letting you do something or have something you want, it's because they want to protect you and maybe teach you that we don't always get everything we want in life. It's a good lesson and will come in handy someday.

How do you think it feels to want to go out and celebrate your wedding Anniversary, or your spouse's birthday, or go out to dinner for the evening, or buy a new dress, or a new car.....but you can't....because the kids needs shoes, or more school supplies, or lunch money, or new clothes, or money for a field trip....should I go on?
Don't be so freakin greedy!!!! You don't know what it's like to have to worry if you're gonna have the money to pay the mortgage this month, and the electric, water, gas and food for the family, gas for the car.........you whining over not getting some trinket thing is so stupid. Grow up and get a life. If you want these extras...get a job and buy them yourself! If you are underage to get a real job...there are several things that you can do to earn money.

You don't think they've been there? You think your parents just popped out of the womb full grown adults? Trust me, your parents have been through what you're going through, and then some. Kids today have more of a special interest group mentality than our generation, they're more concerned with their "rights" than their responsibilities.

Parents make decisions they feel are in your best interest, to protect you and to make you a more responsible person. I thank God everyday that I had tough parents, it saved my life in the gulf war. I was a Marine for 8 years, and I tell you, more than 1 time did I kneel down at night and thank God for giving me the parents that he did.

They taught me to care about others before myself, to always keep an open mind, and to respect others, even when they didn't respect me. Those basic principles I was taught as a young boy have carried me through my life to adult hood, and yes they have saved me.

Think twice before you say your parents do not understand what you're going through, they do. They were once teenagers too you know, dealing with peer pressure, and their parents! Cut em some slack kiddo, listen to what they have to say, and explain to them how you feel, yes actually have a conversation with them.

Because before you know it they will be gone, and you'll be left with the memories of what you did and said to them. So make the time you have with them count for something more than just what you want!

Parents do get it because they have been there. They're doing what's best for you and in 20 years when you are a parent you will get it. Your parents probably "really want" a lot of things, but they have you, so they make many sacrifices for you. Think about that before you complain to them again about wanting something.

You know parents are the same
No matter time nor place
They don't understand that us kids
Are going to make some mistakes
So to you other kids all across the land
There's no need to argue
Parents just don't understand
I remember one year
My mom took me school shopping
It was me, my brother, my mom, oh, my pop, and my little sister
All hopped in the car
We headed downtown to the Gallery Mall
My mom started bugging with the clothes she chose
I didn't say nothing at first
I just turned up my nose
She said, "What's wrong? This shirt cost $20"
I said, "Mom, this shirt is plaid with a butterfly collar!"
The next half hour was the same old thing
My mother buying me clothes from 1963
And then she lost her mind and did the ultimate
I asked her for Adidas and she bought me Zips!
I said, "Mom, what are you doing, you're ruining my rep"
She said, "You're only sixteen, you don't have a rep yet"
I said, "Mom, let's put these clothes back, please"
She said "no, you go to school to learn not for a fashion show"
I said, "This isn't Sha Na Na, come on Mom, I'm not Bowzer
Mom, please put back the bell-bottom Brady Bunch trousers
But if you don't want to I can live with that but
You gotta put back the double-knit reversible slacks"
She wasn't moved - everything stayed the same
Inevitably the first day of school came
I thought I could get over, I tried to play sick
But my mom said, "No, no way, uh-uh, forget it"
There was nothing I could do, I tried to relax
I got dressed up in those ancient artifacts
And when I walked into school, it was just as I thought
The kids were cracking up laughing at the clothes Mom bought
And those who weren't laughing still had a ball
Because they were pointing and whispering
As I walked down the hall
I got home and told my Mom how my day went
She said, "If they were laughing you don't need them,
"Cause they're not good friends"
For the next six hours I tried to explain to my Mom
That I was gonna have to go through this about 200 more times
So to you other kids all across the land
There's no need to argue
Parents just don't understand
Oh-kay, here's the situation
My parents went away on a week's vacation and
They left the keys to the brand new Porsche
Would they mind?
Umm, well, of course not
I'll just take it for a little spin
And maybe show it off to a couple of friends
I'll just cruise it around the neighborhood
Well, maybe I shouldn't
Yeah, of course I should
Pay attention, here's the thick of the plot
I pulled up to the corner at the end of my block
That's when I saw this beautiful girlie girl walking
I picked up my car phone to perpetrate like I was talking
You should've seen this girl's bodily dimensions
I honked my horn just to get her attention
She said, "Was that for me?"
I said, "Yeah"
She said, "Why?"
I said, "Come on and take a ride with a helluva guy"
She said, "How do I know you're not sick?
You could be some deranged lunatic"
I said, "C'mon toots - my name is the Prince =
Beside, would a lunatic have a Porsche like this?"
She agreed and we were on our way
She was looking very good and so was I, I must say - word
We hit McDonald's, pulled into the drive
We ordered two Big Macs and two large fries with Cokes
She kicked her shoes off onto the floor
She said, "Drive fast, speed turns me on"
She put her hand on my knee, I put my foot on the gas
We almost got whiplash, I took off so fast
The sun roof was open , the music was high
And this girl's hand was steadily moving up my thigh
She had opened up three buttons on her shirt so far
I guess that's why I didn't notice that police car
We're doing ninety in my Mom's new Porsche
And to make this long story short - short
When the cop pulled me over I was scared as hell
I said, "I don't have a license but I drive very well, officer"
I almost had a heart attack that day
Come to find out the girl was a twelve-year-old runaway
I was arrested, the car was impounded
There was no way for me to avoid being grounded
My parents had to come off from vacation to get me
I'd rather be in jail than to have my father hit me
My parents walked in
I got my grip, I said, "Ah, Mom, Dad, how was your trip?"
They didn't speak
I said, "I want to plead my case"
But my father just shoved me in the car by my face
That was a hard ride home, I don't know how I survived
They took turns -
One would beat me while the other one was driving
I can't believe it, I just made a mistake
Well parents are the same no matter time nor place
So to you other kids all across the land
Take it from me
Parents just don't understand

Emily, as a mother of three, now adult children, believe me when I tell you that we ABSOLUTELY DO UNDERSTAND and that is why we ask you to wait. TRUST your parents. They would never, ever do anything to hurt you. Remember, we were once your age and things haven't changed that much since then. We KNOW exactly what you are going through and even though it is hard to wait, remind yourself how much they love you and TRUST THEIR DECISION.

You're forgetting that they too were kids!!

Maybe it's time to step back and look at this something that you really want. Maybe it's time to look through your parents' eyes and notice that maybe you don't really NEED this something as much as you think you do.

Talk with them. Listen. Act like an adult if you wanted to be treated like one.
