Elana: BBC just released a study that concluded that it had a hopelessly leftist slant in their own reporting.

NPR and the BBC are if not the most objective, some of the
most objective, news available today.

NPRs had its gaffs but nothing like Fox has almost every day.

Remember, Fox News unapologetically pulls stories that
its sponsors find objectionable.

I'm not saying that no other news organization has done that,
but they at least know to feel guilty about!

I was listening to NPR a few weeks ago and they had a Pro-National Healthcare speaker on. Did NPR have someone to balance the commentator? No. Where's the Fairness Doctrine for that? NPR does give the news a liberal slant. About 2 yrs ago when Bush was having trouble getting judges approved NPR had a guest on that said Clinton had it worse than Bush. I got on the judiciary's web site and dug up the facts and found that statement was a bold face lie. Does anyone care? Not really. I do, because I have to argue the facts with people who take the spoken word as the truth.

I listen to NPR and absolutely know for a fact that they have had some VERY conservative guests on that they treated with respect and no disagreement.

They also run conservative commentary without making fun of them or countering what was said.

The "Fair and Balanced" title belongs to NPR and not those frauds who use it for advertisement.

Almost all news is given with a spin on it. Any one who truly believes it doesn't, needs to introduce themselves to many different forms of news and see how stories are reported on and what is and isn't reported.

NPR does at least attempt to give news rather than blatant opinions.

They try to keep it balanced, rather than going with a bunch of button-pushing garbage guaranteed to keep the people ranting (and listening.)

Why would you consider news/entertainment/opinion shows like Rush and O'Reilly objective? Isn't that a little self-centered?

I've known that for many years. Most of the anchors and commentators have admitted to being liberals and using slant. It's nothing new.

Liberals are indeed absolutely blind to their own propoganda.

Fox is slanted, but everything else is absolutely accurate?

Edited to say:

Basically.

I'm a conservative and I'll admit Rush & co. are biased, but NPR is just as biased in a more subtle way, which makes it harder to detect.
