My 11-year-old is going to sit a late entrance exam for a grammar school. She will be tested in English, Maths and Science. Are there any good books or sites which could help her revise the national curriculum for year 7 in these subjects?

First off, i wanna say that it's really sweet that your'e going to help her. :)
secondly, you should do this with her. Read the newspaper, read a book together and look at the structure of the sentences.
Next, you can look online at some websites that are from schools (i.e. ones that end in .edu) for all three subjects.
It's hard to squish so much studying into one more week, but she should be able to do it.
But please keep in mind (this is something i wish my parents had done for me), please don't put too much pressure on her when she's studying...and leave her alone for periods of time so she can feel that she's studying by herself (i.e. doing it by herself).
Good luck to you and good luck to her! You're a sweetheart!

Just study. You could send her to Sylvan. I went there. Not for studying, but for math help, and it was fun. I did really good, and this year, I got an A in math. The highest you can get is an A++, but I got an A, so I was happy. You cant really study for math. Math is super easy when your 11 years old. Study vocabulary for english and stuff like that, and study terms and stuff in Science. dont worry. She'll do GREAT!

Just help her relax and take the pressure off. Too much revising can have a negative effect, especially on an 11 yr old.

At most I'd just run through some times tables with her and ask seemingly random question every so often on science. So your keeping her mind working but keeping it all casual.

Don't go out buying books and cramming knowlege into her as it will just freak her out.

Since you only have one week until the exam, I'm afraid you may confuse her and make her nervous by introducing new materials at this point. The only things you could do at this point is to go over what she already has learned to remind her of those things, or if you know the format of the exam, make sure she understand that format.

I hope your daughter doesn't know you are asking this question?

How about you make her a big mug of the best hot chocolate you know of....put your arms around her and tell her you love her and that all you want is for her to be happy.

Two daughters....completely different....both happy...both loved.
