I am trying to publish a web site but it says I need an ftp address. What is it and how do I get one?

Who are you trying to publish the site with? Have you already arranged web hosting? If so, your web host should give you an ftp username and password.
You may also need an ftp client - a free one is available at the link below.

I presume you have a domain and it is hosted somewhere.

Let's assume your domain is www.abc.com. Your web address is http://www.abc.com. Your ftp address is ftp://abc.com in most cases. Check with your hosting company as you also have a user name and password to satisfy.
