And what do you think about the argument that pot should be legal and the U.S. should outlaw alcohol?

I do think pot should be legal, not because I think it is harmless, I know it is not. But because, like alcohol, it could be better controlled, we could garner tax income from it's sale, and we could cut drug smuggling by quite a bit, freeing up resources that could be better used elsewhere.
Prohibition doesn't work, we already proved that, when you make a substance illegal you just create more crime, and then you have to expend resources to try to combat the crime you have created. Make pot legal like alcohol, no more criminals trying to grow and sell it because the vast majority of adult buyers will then just go to the local pot shop to get it. No market for the criminal.

Marijuana is far more pervasive in its effects than alcohol. Alcohol is one chemical whereas cannabis contains nearly 400 known active chemicals. Alcohol is gone from your body in 12 hours no matter how much you drink. Cannabinols are detectable in the blood for three months. Cannabinols are oil soluble and reside in the cells; they affect the sex cells (sperm and egg) in detrimental ways which puts the future children of the user at risk. I have done this research because of the fact I was married to a pot smoker. When he first started smoking pot, not a week went by before he became violent (when he didn't have any, or when the effects wore off). I truly believe marijuana is the cause of my eventual divorce. He just wasn't the same man. My son, having watched his father use pot, became a pot smoker also. He became very lazy, refused to go to school and became very depressed. Thank goodness I was able to convince him that it was because of the pot smoking. He quit and has not smoked it since. He does drink. He is now a hard worker, a productive member of society and a great father. If you had known him when he smoked pot this would seem like a miracle. I definitely do not think pot should be legalized. I don't even think it should be used (for smoking) by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. It can be taken in pill form for that. Legalizing the smoking of it in any way for any reason just opens the door...a door that needs to stay closed.

I think that alcohol is much more impairing than pot is - and in addition, alcohol can cause more aggression, whereas pot tends to mellow us out. I'd rather be damaging my lungs with a few minutes of inhaling than damage my liver with a night of drinking.

Pot to me is a better alternative, though I wouldnt suggest we promote substances to anyone (especially not children). But if we have to legalize a substance, I think pot is far better than alcohol in terms of being high, and less cruel on the internal organs and impairment.

I would fully support this arguement and change in the US legal system!
I dont think i have ever known of anyone who has smoked a joint and then was so inebriated that they could not function.
I have never seen pot heads smoke a joint and then go do a robbery just because they were wanting more weed.
Lets see...what are the statistics of people killed in accidents involving alcohol?
Now, let's run that against the statistics of people killed in accidents involving pot....

That would be awesome.....but i just do not see it happening any time soon.

you know the green party was fighting to legalize pot. but i think the goverment could legalize it and maintain it just like alcohol. if i remember corrected after a study i read it was about a 1 billion dollar industry.

Sure pot or weed, as I call it, should be legal. I should have the right to smoke a fat blunt if I want. :) Alcohol is much worse. You never heard about people driving while high and killing people, but you do hear about them killing people, because they were drunk while driving.

Everyone should smoke one every now and then, just to take the edge off, lol. Then maybe we wouldn't have as many assholes running around polluting the earth with their rubbish. Cheers!

KIDS, SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

No thanks. I'm not about to legalize something that's on fire and in the hands of someone who's somewhat stoned. We have enough brush fires caused by idiots chucking cigarette butts out their car windows. Want to add to that more brush fires caused by gits who chuck their butts out their car windows and are also driving while stoned?
