Only if his name happens to be Newt to start off with.
If the only person I know named Newt is changed, then the question is "Can a witch turn a pig into a newt?"

Only witches in good standing with the Interdimensional Order of Warlocks, Witches and Wizards are allowed to turn people into newts. Persons turned into newts by non-union sorcerers may file a grievance, in person, with the Governing Board at the nearest District Office. Such grievances must state the date and time of the transmogrification, the paranormal person performing the act, and their broomstick license number.

The District Office of the IOWWW is located on a small planet in the Gliese system, and is open three times weekly from 4 to 6 p.m., local time. Please consult a local directory for directions and a current schedule.

Please do not call, either psychically, technologically, or Ouijically as this will delay the processing of your grievance. The Governing Board will respond within in six to eight weeks (Gliese calendar).

According to the Law of Conservation of Mass, probably not. Mass cannot be lost, so the newt would have an outrageous mass to volume ration, resulting in an impossibly dense newt. Unless of course it was a very large newt. But I have never seen any of them walking around. So my answer is no.

And thank you for providing me with 5 minutes of entertainment.

Not to my knowledge.....hypnosis makes people do strange things as you've seen in shows, but physically I don't not believe its possible.most witches( hopefully your sticking to the white side)have better things to do than turn people into newts.....besides you can get them outside or at your local pet store! If your dealing with a witch like that, I'd watch my attitude or get the heck out of there. be safe and smart.....Blessed be!

If you believe in them, Yes.
In fairytales, witches always had books and magical powers that could do everything and anything.
Remember the Snow White Witch? She turned herself ugly and then made a poison apple.
