The highest possible SAT score is 2400.
Each section is worth 800.
Altogether, you have 1530.
I would say that that is about average.
With some more practice, you are well on your way;)

800 for each.
Do NOT feel discouraged. Now is the time for action. the action is to hustle on down to the public library and get a stack of 5-10 novels to read starting tonight. Spend 2 hours a night reading thru this stack of novels, then switch them out for new ones.
If you want to improve your reading score, you have to get a move on!
Reading is like skating, the more you practice the skill of reading, the better you get at comprehending what you read, and your scores will increase.
But the really best reason to read is because it is a great escape from the pressures of living. When life gets too unhappy or whatever, reach for a novel and forget your troubles for a couple of hours. Sure the problems will still be there, but you get a break from the misery.
So discover the joys of reading trash fiction, and then this will translate into higher reading comprehension scores on tests and better reading comprehension when you read those college textbooks.
There really is no downside to reading trash fiction! It's the pastime that keeps on giving!
Oh, and if someone scoffs and tells you that reading trash fiction (like Tamora Pierce fantasy novels, or John Grisham novels, or that new teen sensation series, called Maximum Ride by James Patterson) won't improve your SAT test scores, you just tell them that my 15 yr old daughter reads a book a day (pure trash) and scored 800 on the SAT in critical reading. And a 32 on the ACT in reading. So you see, reading anything, educational or purely fiction recreation, will cause those test scores to significantly increase. Enjoy!

2400 is the highest possible score. Your scores aren't bad, but you could certainly improve. When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from guideparadise: http://www.guideparadise.com/index.php?option=com_guides&task=buy&id=10 and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.

You are pretty much average. As in C student average. So yeah, they're not stellar. The highest possible score you can get on each section in 800, for a total of 2400.

The highest score is 2400, A "Good" score depends on where you want to go to college and what score they want. Your score report should have a percentile which will tell you how well you did compared to other people that took the test.

The highest possible is a 2400 ( 800 for every section) Your score is then a 1530. You shouldn't get discouraged, but you might want to give it another go. But that's just me. Good luck in any case.

you have 1530, and the total score is 2400
look on the bright side pal, you can get into USC!
usc only requires a sat score of 1300
and if you do poorly on your SAT scores, it doesn't matter, all you have to do is participate more at school activities (i.e. clubs) and be more active in extra curricular activities. In the end, it'll all balance out.
no sweat :D
hope that helped you become more motivated.

Even though the SAT's currently have three sections (totalling 2400), some colleges are still only looking at the Math and the Reading sections.
