Coulter debuted as a public figure shortly before becoming an unpaid legal advisor for the attorneys representing Paula Jones in her sexual harassment suit against President Bill Clinton

David Daley, who wrote the interview piece for the Hartford Courant recounted what followed:

Coulter played one particularly key role in keeping the Jones case alive. In Newsweek reporter Michael Isikoff's new book Uncovering Clinton: A Reporter's Story, Coulter is unmasked as the one who leaked word of Clinton's "distinguishing characteristic" — his reportedly bent penis that Jones said she could recognize and describe — to the news media. Her hope was to foster mistrust between the Clinton and Jones camps and forestall a settlement...By then, the Jones lawsuit had led to the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.

As we all know, the Monica scandal tainted Clinton and thereby damaged Al Gore's campaign.

If it wasn't for Ann Coulter...Gore might have won in 2000!

Ann Coulter is a traitor by debasing the electorate by her incessant name calling and lack of contribution to the political dialogue. She is part of the problem of this country and it's inability to stop being cynical and start creating positive change in the country that we need to move forward and compete with the rest of the world. She contributes nothing. She made a mockery of the entire Jones lawsuit and of Monica Lewinsky. If Jones had an ounce of integrity or intelligence she would have gone after Clinton without the bitter Coulter. Gore never lost because of Coulter, Gore lost because of Gore. You give Coulter far more credit than she deserves. Any intelligent person can see that she is nothing but a spoiled rotten whiney and bitter person that is nothing but a talking head for the bitter and spoiled GOP in this country. She contributes nothing. Anyone who thinks she's intelligent has rocks for brains and obviously can't think for his or herself.

I say that I don't feel that she is a good spokesperson for conservative causes. She is a cynic through-and-through, and anyone should be able to see that she is in the way she talks. I'm not saying that I totally disagree with her about most of the things she says. That is what a liberal says and I am a conservative. But she often says things with so much cynicism dripping like goo off her words that it is a turnoff. She can't be persuasive. She can only be a rallier for people who share who views and don't mind hearing conservatism even when it is espoused with so much cynicism.

If Gore won, terrorist would be attacking us and he would still be waiting on approval by the UN to negotiate peace talks/ or surrender settlements.

What the libs refuse to realize is that they created Ann Coulter. They refused to run her columns in newspapers but ran Arianna Huffinton's and Steiner's anti American stuff. They refuse to publish her book "Slander," They basically blacklisted her. She evenually found a publisher to publish her book, and every since then she has been a New York times bestseller (much to the shagrin of libs), every book she writes! And for months at a time. Newspapers now run her columns and her website gets millons of hits. If liberals don't like what you have to say, they consider it hate speech!

And if Edwards is crying about personal politicsand attacks, then I know she is doing it right!

I agree with you completely. I feel that people, liberals especially continue to dislike her because she continues to uncover so many of the dirty little secrets that the liberals have. They do not like the fact that as a woman she is willing to tell it like it is, and she always has the facts to back up what she says. ANN COULTER IS AN AMERICAN HERO1

What people don't understand about Ann Coulter is that she is iconoclastic. She wants to take people out of their comfort zone and make them really examine issues, not just nod their heads like hypnotized lab experiments while watching the same homogenous, Liberally-slanted "news" reports on tv.

Ann says a lot of things that aren't meant to be taken literally, just to wake people up and provoke a reaction. Too many people seem to be sleepwalking through life. Ann is like a splash of cold water on the George Orwell "1984" crowd.

A lot of people dislike Ann Coulter because she refuses to sugar coat the truth, and won't use dumbed-down euphemisms. Ann is like that type of modern art that is a bit unsettling, but forces you to examine things you've always taken for granted.

Maybe I can sum it up best as, people dislike Ann because she forces them to really think profoundly, not just go through the motions.

calling Ann Coulter an American hero is a real put down to all of the real American heroes. You really set the bar low when you refer to her as a hero.

in addition , like most members of hate radio or hate media, she is a champion of misinformation. If they would stop the hate and the lies, people might take them serious.

I think everybody knows she says things for attention but the problem I have with her is that she always has to stoop to the lowest common denominator to generate that attention. Both sides, left and right, should dismiss her if they believe in true discourse.

I agree with many of Coulter's views, and have most of her books -- I just dislike the way she comes across. The thing with Edwards is a recent example. She does it to shock people, and get attention, and that's why so many dislike her. I find Michelle Malkin to be a nice alternative to Ann Coulter.
